Research Projects

The Ávila-Lovera lab is interested in understanding the mechanisms behind drought tolerance, with a focus on the role of stem photosynthesis on plant physiological performance and survival during drought, especially in desert plants.

1. Water status regulation in plants with photosynthetic stems.

2. Mechanistic link between stem photosynthesis, non-structural carbohydrates and hydraulics in desert plants.

3. Role of stem photosynthesis in growth and survival during drought.
